Uganda has confirmed two additional Ebola cases, bringing the total number of infections in the current outbreak to seven, health authorities said on Tuesday.
The new cases were detected through ongoing surveillance and are linked to transmission chains associated with the wider outbreak in neighbouring Democratic Republic of Congo, officials said.
The patients have been isolated and are receiving treatment, while health teams carry out contact tracing to identify and monitor individuals who may have been exposed.
Authorities have stepped up screening and monitoring measures, particularly in and around healthcare facilities, as part of efforts to contain further spread.
Ebola is a highly infectious viral haemorrhagic fever transmitted through direct contact with infected bodily fluids. Symptoms include fever, vomiting, diarrhoea and, in severe cases, internal and external bleeding.
Uganda has experienced multiple Ebola outbreaks in recent decades and maintains established response protocols, including rapid isolation units and emergency field teams.
Health officials continue to work with international partners to contain the outbreak and prevent cross-border transmission.
