Qubad Talabani, Supervisor of the Secretariat Bureau of President Mam Jalal, visited the Raparin Centre of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) in Ranya, where he was welcomed by Haider Saeed, Head of the centre, along with members of the leadership.
At the beginning of the meeting, held on Sunday, 31 May 2026, Talabani congratulated the members of the centre, as well as all cadres, comrades, and supporters of the PUK in the Raparin region, on the occasion of the 51st anniversary of the party’s establishment.
He stated that the struggling people of the Raparin region have supported the PUK since the earliest days of its struggle. Therefore, he stressed that the Raparin Centre must reorganise the relationship between the PUK and the public in a way that enables all segments of society to regard the centre as their home.
In another part of his remarks, the Supervisor of the Secretariat Bureau of President Mam Jalal referred to the current position of the PUK and stated that, under the leadership of President Bafel Jalal Talabani, the party is continuing to grow stronger and more influential.
He added that the PUK is now respected both in Baghdad and internationally for its policies and positions, and is regarded as a guarantor for protecting Kurdish rights and resolving outstanding issues.
Talabani further emphasised that the Raparin Centre and all PUK institutions must adapt their working methods to the party’s new position and status, while reorganising their relations with the people in such a way that everyone views the PUK as a source of strength and support.
