Kurdistan Region Vice President Sheikh Jaafar Sheikh Mustafa received Akira Endo, Japan's Ambassador to Iraq, and his accompanying delegation.

The meeting reviewed the relations between Iraq and the Kurdistan Region with Japan, as well as the latest political and security developments in Iraq and the wider region, with both sides stressing the importance of strengthening cooperation, particularly in infrastructure development, reconstruction, economic cooperation and trade.

The two sides also underscored the importance of unity among the Kurdistan Region's political parties to overcome the obstacles delaying the formation of the new Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) cabinet.

Regional developments and the continuation of dialogue and mutual understanding between Erbil and Baghdad to resolve outstanding issues between the two governments also featured in the discussions.
