The Iraqi Ministry of Justice has denied reports circulating on social media alleging the arrest of the Director of the Minister of Justice's office, describing the claims as entirely false and politically motivated.
In a statement received by PUKMEDIA, the Ministry said that a number of media outlets and social media pages had circulated the reports for political purposes and to mislead the public.
"The news is completely fabricated and has no basis in reality," the statement said.
The Ministry added that the official concerned continues to carry out his duties as normal and has not faced any legal issues, either in the past or at present. It described him as a dedicated and honest employee whose professional record has been affirmed by oversight bodies.
The Ministry also stated that the purpose of the misinformation campaign was to damage the reputation of both the Ministry and its officials.
It announced that it would take the necessary legal action against all television channels, social media pages and media organisations involved in publishing or spreading the false reports, with the aim of holding them accountable under the law.
