Sheikh Jaafar Commends Counter-Terrorism Forces During Official Visit

Sheikh Jaafar Sheikh Mustafa, Vice President of the Kurdistan Region, paid an official visit to the Directorate General of Counter-Terrorism, where he was received by Wahab Halabjay, Director General of Counter-Terrorism, along with a number of senior commanders and officers.
During the visit, Sheikh Jaafar praised the Counter-Terrorism Directorate for its high level of professionalism, operational capability and combat readiness. He commended the force’s vital role in tackling terrorism and security threats, as well as its continued efforts to safeguard security and stability across the Kurdistan Region.
He stressed the importance of further enhancing the Directorate’s capabilities through specialised training and professional development programmes based on the latest military and scientific standards adopted by special operations forces. He said this would further strengthen the force’s readiness and enable its personnel to carry out their national responsibilities with greater efficiency and effectiveness. Sheikh Jaafar also reaffirmed his full support and confidence in the Directorate’s personnel, paying tribute to their sacrifices and their role in protecting the safety of citizens and preserving the region’s stability.
For his part, Wahab Halabjay expressed his sincere appreciation, on behalf of himself and all the Directorate’s officers, Peshmerga personnel and staff, for Sheikh Jaafar’s continued support, describing it as an important source of encouragement in strengthening the institution’s capabilities and overall performance.
Halabjay also provided a comprehensive briefing on the Directorate’s national responsibilities and its ongoing efforts to combat terrorism and address a range of security threats. He emphasised that all operations are conducted in accordance with the Constitution, applicable laws and professional standards, adding that protecting the lives of citizens and maintaining security and stability will remain among the Directorate’s foremost national priorities.
