The Iraqi Parliament is set to resume its sessions next week, with lawmakers scheduled to hold the first reading of several draft laws. However, no date has yet been set for a vote to complete the formation of the federal cabinet.
According to the agenda issued by the Parliament’s Parliamentary Affairs Department, the first session of the second legislative term of the first legislative year will be held on Monday, 6 July 2026. The agenda includes four items, among them the first reading of four draft laws.
The agenda does not include a vote on the remaining cabinet appointments. Nine ministries continue to be administered by acting ministers after their proposed ministers failed to secure parliamentary approval during the government confidence vote on 14 May 2026.
Srwa Mohammed, a member of parliament from the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) bloc, previously told PUKMEDIA that Parliament’s recess officially ended on 1 July.
She added that Parliament would work to schedule a session to complete the cabinet vote as part of efforts to fill the remaining vacant ministerial posts.
