Dana Gas announced on Monday that it has begun implementing a plan to increase production at the Khor Mor gas field in the Kurdistan Region, with the aim of strengthening electricity supplies and meeting growing demand for natural gas.
In a statement, the company said the decision followed updated assessments of operational and field conditions. It added that it had received clear assurances from the highest levels of both the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) and the Federal Government, enabling it to resume its production expansion plans.
Dana Gas said the increase in production will be carried out gradually and in line with operational and security requirements.
The company said the additional gas output will primarily be used to supply power stations and help meet the energy needs of residents across the Kurdistan Region and other parts of Iraq served by the Khor Mor field.
The expansion comes as Iraq seeks to strengthen its energy sector amid rising demand for electricity, alongside government initiatives and investment partnerships aimed at developing the country's natural gas resources and improving power generation.
