The Foreign Centre of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) held a meeting with members of the Kurdish diaspora in Stockholm, Sweden, on Sunday afternoon, 2 August 2026, in the presence of a large number of political figures and Swedish parliamentarians.

In his speech, Salar Mahmoud, a member of the leadership and head of the Foreign Centre, welcomed the participants and thanked them for attending the meeting at the centre’s invitation.

Mahmoud highlighted the important role of the Kurdish diaspora in advancing the national cause and strengthening a spirit of collective action, drawing on the Kurdish people’s history of struggle.

He stressed the need to organise political and national efforts in parallel both inside Kurdistan and abroad, while expressing appreciation for the efforts of the Kurdish diaspora, which he said had made a significant contribution to advancing the national cause.

He also said the activities and positions of Kurds abroad had helped strengthen unity within the diaspora and overcome a mentality of fragmentation and division.

Omar Sheikhmous, a founding member of the PUK, also addressed the gathering, highlighting the role of Kurdish women in the Kurdish people’s national liberation struggle.

He stressed the importance of bringing together available capabilities and coordinating efforts in line with the requirements and mechanisms of the current stage of the struggle.

The meeting also addressed the life and history of Hiro Ibrahim Ahmad and her years of struggle in the mountains and cities.
