Three Drug Dealers Arrested, Narcotics Seized in Sulaymaniyah

The Kurdistan Region Security (Asayish) Agency announced on Thursday the arrest of three suspected drug dealers and the seizure of a large quantity of narcotics in Sulaimaniyah Governorate.

In a statement received by PUKMEDIA, the Asayish said units from its General Directorate in Sulaymaniyah arrested the three suspects during a security operation on 19 August 2026, following extensive surveillance and intelligence gathering.

The statement said the operation resulted in the seizure of “large quantities of liquid marijuana concealed inside e-cigarette (vape) containers”, adding that the shipment had been smuggled into the Kurdistan Region from abroad.

The suspects have been detained under Article 25 of Iraq’s Anti-Narcotics and Psychotropic Substances Law, while investigations remain ongoing, the statement added.
