Members of the Royal Family,
I was deeply saddened to learn of the passing of King Harald V of Norway, a sovereign who devoted his life to the service of his country and people and whose public life reflected a steadfast commitment to peace, coexistence and human dignity.
On behalf of the Republic of Iraq and on my own behalf, I extend my deepest condolences and sincere sympathies to the Royal Family, the Norwegian leadership and government, and to the people of Norway at this time of profound loss.
King Harald V will be remembered for his dedicated service to Norway and for the dignity, wisdom and sense of responsibility with which he carried out his duties. His legacy will remain an important part of Norway’s modern history and of the memory of those who valued his commitment to his country and to the principles of peaceful coexistence and human solidarity.
Norway has long earned international respect for its constructive and principled role in addressing global and humanitarian challenges. Its enduring support for peace and dialogue, the protection of human rights, sustainable development and cooperation among nations reflects values that the Republic of Iraq deeply appreciates and respects.
At this difficult moment, our thoughts and solidarity are with the Royal Family and the Norwegian people. May they find strength and comfort as they mourn the loss of their King.
Please accept the assurances of my deepest sympathy and highest consideration.
Nizar Amedi
President of the Republic of Iraq
