British far-right commentator Milo Yiannopoulos has been deported to the United Kingdom, a US Department of Homeland Security (DHS) spokesperson said on Saturday.
The deportation took place on Friday, a day after Yiannopoulos, 41, was arrested by US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) at Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport.
According to the DHS spokesperson, Yiannopoulos had legally entered the United States in May 2019 but later overstayed his authorised period of stay, in violation of US immigration laws.
Yiannopoulos, who has advocated stricter immigration enforcement than measures implemented by the Trump administration, including ICE checkpoints at supermarket entrances, failed to appear at an immigration hearing and was issued a final removal order on 22 July, DHS said.
Celebrity news outlet TMZ.com, which first reported his arrest, said Yiannopoulos had close ties to rapper Ye, formerly known as Kanye West, and may have been in New Orleans ahead of the musician’s scheduled performance there on Friday evening.
Yiannopoulos was a prominent supporter of Donald Trump during his 2016 presidential campaign and has frequently expressed anti-Islamic and anti-immigration views. In a post on X in June 2025, he wrote: “We have got to deport millions and millions and millions of people. Without that, nothing else matters.”
