Two Dead, Eight Injured After Ammunition Vehicle Explodes Near Binnish.

An explosion occurred on Tuesday afternoon, 1 September 2026, as a vehicle carrying ammunition was being transported near the entrance to Binnish in Syria’s Idlib countryside, according to preliminary reports. The blast killed two people and injured eight others.

Civil defence and ambulance teams continued search and rescue operations at the scene, while roads leading to the area were closed and residents were urged to stay away amid concerns over further explosions and flying debris.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said the vehicle was carrying ammunition when the explosion occurred. The injured were taken to a military hospital for treatment, while information about the fate of several people who were in the vicinity remained unclear.

The Observatory said further explosions occurred as ammunition on board the vehicle detonated, sending thick plumes of smoke into the sky. Emergency teams continued efforts to locate missing people and recover those killed or injured, while authorities secured the area and assessed the extent of the damage.

The Observatory warned that transporting ammunition and explosives through or near populated areas poses serious risks to civilians. Accidents or malfunctions during transportation can trigger secondary explosions and cause further casualties, highlighting the dangers of handling such materials near residential areas.
