DEM Party Launches Fifth Ordinary Congress in Ankara

The Peoples’ Equality and Democracy Party (DEM Party) launched its fifth ordinary congress on Sunday, 6 September 2026, in Ankara, with broad participation from party members and political and social figures from various regions.

The congress began on Sunday morning at the Nazım Hikmet Cultural Centre in Ankara’s Yenimahalle district, drawing large numbers of participants from cities across northern Kurdistan and other parts of Türkiye.

The co-chairs of the DEM Party, Tülay Hatimoğulları and Tuncer Bakırhan, are scheduled to address the congress, followed by reports on the party’s activities and work during the previous period.

As part of its future plans, the party announced that it intends to hold a larger general congress in spring 2027 to introduce changes and restructure its political framework in parallel with the ongoing peace process.

According to the plan, the larger congress will be held in spring 2027 alongside the implementation of legislation aimed at strengthening national solidarity and social integration.
