U.S. President, UK PM Discuss Ukraine Ceasefire and Middle East

UK Prime Minister Andy Burnham spoke with U.S. President Donald Trump on Monday, with the two leaders agreeing on the need to continue efforts towards a ceasefire to end Russia’s war in Ukraine, according to Downing Street.

A Downing Street spokesperson said, according to Reuters, that the Prime Minister had reiterated the UK’s support for Ukraine and for recent U.S.-led peace negotiations.

Burnham and Trump also discussed the situation in the Middle East, with the Prime Minister stressing the importance of a two-state solution, the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz and ensuring that Iran never acquires a nuclear weapon, the spokesperson added.

The call came a day after U.S. peace envoys Jared Kushner and Steve Witkoff met Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy in Kyiv on Sunday, following their meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Moscow on Saturday.
