Rewaz Fayeq: Women’s Participation in Decision-Making Is Essential

A delegation from the Women’s Academy for Leadership visited the Political Bureau of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) on Tuesday, 8 September 2026.
The delegation, which included representatives of several political parties, briefed Rewaz Fayeq, a member of the PUK Political Bureau, on the Academy’s work and activities aimed at strengthening women’s role in public life.
Fayeq praised the Academy’s efforts to address women’s issues and promote their participation in decision-making across various fields.
The meeting was also attended by Stran Abdullah, Head of the Secretariat of the PUK Political Bureau. During the meeting, the delegation presented a work project to the Political Bureau.
Fayeq reaffirmed the PUK’s support for women’s issues and the Women’s Academy for Leadership. She expressed hope that the Women’s Academy for Leadership, in cooperation with civil society organisations, would expand its efforts, strengthen coordination and work jointly to advance women’s issues.
She stressed that women are an essential component of the success and sustainable development of any society, describing their active participation in positions of responsibility and decision-making as a necessity at this stage of the political struggle.
