PUK President: Dialogue Is Key to Safeguarding Kurdish Rights in Syria

Bafel Jalal Talabani welcomed Mazloum Abdi in Dabashan.

Bafel Jalal Talabani, President of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK), welcomed Mazloum Abdi, Advisor to the Presidency of the Syrian Republic, in Dabashan.

The meeting, attended by Sheikh Ahmed Hama Karim and Dr Hawre Sheikh Daro, members of the PUK Political Bureau, focused on the latest regional developments and the situation in Syria, with both sides emphasising the importance of strengthening coordination.

President Bafel stressed the need to unite efforts to ensure the success of dialogue, stating: “We firmly believe that the rights of the Kurdish people and peaceful coexistence can only be guaranteed through dialogue. The new Syria must be rebuilt on the foundations of national partnership and pluralism, and the PUK will provide all possible support towards achieving this goal.”

For his part, Mazloum Abdi highlighted the important role played by President Bafel and the PUK, saying: “Your continued support and efforts have been vital in overcoming challenges and fostering an environment of understanding that safeguards the rights of the Kurdish people and serves the future of the new Syria.”
