Books 02:19 PM - 2021-08-20
To introduce and illuminate the history of Kurdish journalism, the 638-page "Kurdish Journalism Guidebook 1906-2019" was published by the Kurdistani Nwe newspaper.
The author of the book, Dr. Karzan Muhammad, said in a statement that the book comes in 638 pages, and was published by the Kurdistan Newspaper, thanking Stran Abdullah, the head of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) Media Office, for encouraging him to write the book, and also wrote the introduction to the book.
Dr. Karzan Muhammad also thanked Dr. Alan Faraidun, President of the Technical University of Sulaymaniyah, for providing him with 42 references and scientific sources.
The guidebook includes information and names of all the Kurdish newspapers and magazines that were published in Kurdistan and Iran between 1906-2019.
"The name Kurdistan in the title refers to Kurdistan in general. The unique phenomenon in Kurdish journalism is that sometimes due to the difficult conditions of Kurds' life, the printing was in one area, and the publication was in another area of Kurdistan, meaning that several newspapers and magazines were printed in different parts of Kurdistan and then published in the Kurdistan Region, Tehran, and Tabriz," Dr. Muhammad said.
The book discusses the reality of Kurdish journalism according to the historical stage and academic foundations along with mentioning the sources.
It also talks about Kurdish journalism during the different historical stages such as:
Journalism during the Qajar era
Journalism during the Pahlavi era
Journalism during the Republic of Kurdistan
Journalism during Islamic coup
Two important sections are also dedicated to:
Student and academic researches
Newspapers and magazines outside Kurdistan
Dr. Muhammad pointed out that he relied on the original copy of newspapers and magazines is protected in the preparatory archive.
