The Halabja Pomegranate and Autumn Festival is set to begin on Wednesday, 28 October, with local farmers, entrepreneurs and artisans preparing to showcase their products. Halabja Governor Nuksha Nasih has confirmed that preparations are complete ahead of the four-day event.

Speaking at a press conference on Monday, 26 October 2026, Nasih said all arrangements had been finalised, with large numbers of tourists expected to attend.

She said the festival dates had been chosen carefully, with rainfall forecast for only one day during the event. Shuttle buses have also been arranged at the entrance to Halabja to help visitors reach the festival grounds without driving into the city.

The four-day programme will feature a range of activities and local products. Alongside pomegranates, local women will display handmade crafts and traditional dishes, while farmers will showcase a variety of agricultural produce.

Nasih thanked Begard Talabani, the Kurdistan Region’s Minister of Agriculture and Water Resources, for her continued support for Halabja’s agricultural sector and the wider region.

She added that a formal request had been submitted to the KRG Minister of Education to declare public holidays on the two working days that fall during the festival. An official response is still awaited.

The 12th Halabja Pomegranate and Autumn Festival will run from 28 to 31 October 2026.
