A committee established under Iraq's Diwani Order No. 80 of 2026 to follow up on the government’s commitments to address the injustices suffered by Feyli Kurds has held a meeting with representatives of relevant ministries and government agencies.

The meeting was chaired by Minister of Justice Dr Khalid Shwani and focused on measures to secure justice for the Feyli Kurdish community and restore its rights.

According to a statement by the Justice Ministry's Media Office, Dr Shwani reaffirmed the government’s commitment to addressing the harm inflicted on Feyli Kurds and ensuring that their rights are restored.

The statement noted that the participants agreed on a series of decisions and recommendations to be submitted to the Council of Ministers for approval. These include recovering confiscated properties, real estate and land, as well as documenting internationally the violations committed against Feyli Kurds under the former regime.

The statement added that the proposals also call for including a representative of the Feyli Kurds community on the committee responsible for preparing international human rights reports.

Other recommendations include establishing a national archive documenting acts of genocide and forced displacement, simplifying administrative procedures for processing applications submitted by members of the community, and introducing further measures to resolve outstanding cases and provide redress to those affected.

At the end of the meeting, Dr Shwani stressed the need for continued efforts to settle pending issues, restore the rights of affected individuals, and uphold the principles of justice and equality.
