Smoke rises from a site where Turkish drones bombed in Badinan
The Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) is manipulating official government institutions in Badinan, Duhok, and Erbil to alter the records of the casualties of Turkish bombings and invasions. A member of the Iraqi parliament confirmed that the causes of death for the martyrs who perished in the bombings and invasions are intentionally altered on their death certificates.
According to the American Community Peace-Maker Teams (CPT) in Iraqi Kurdistan, from 2015 to 2024, over 147 people were martyred and 219 injured as a result of the government's silence and cooperation with Turkish operations in the Kurdistan Region.
This is purposeful action by the KDP
Iraqi Parliament Member Dr. Briar Rashid, who has investigated the cases of martyrs, wounded, and victims, told PUKMEDIA: "The KDP is changing the causes of death on the death certificates of citizens who were martyred in Türkiye's invasion, bombings, and drone strikes in Badinan, Duhok, Erbil, and Sinjar."
"This is a purposeful action by the KDP to obscure the truth of the incidents, with the relatives of the martyrs being the primary victims. It also serves to conceal the crimes perpetrated by the KDP and a foreign entity against innocent people," he stated.
The victims should be considered martyred
The KDP, serving as the guide for the Turkish incursion into the Kurdistan Region, is the primary factor behind the martyrdom and injury of civilians, as well as the evacuation of numerous villages. It also employs relevant offices to amend the death certificate of anyone who was martyred as a result of bombing and invasion.
Bahjat Zebari, a resident of Dinarta subdistrict of Duhok, whose cousin and uncle were killed in Turkish drone attacks on the slopes of Gara Mountain, told PUKMEDIA: "The death certificates of our martyrs do not mention that they were killed by Turkish bombings."
He called for their victims to be regarded as martyrs of the land and also asked for compensation.
Death certificates are changed
The death certificates of martyrs from the bombings and invasions in the Kurdistan Region are changed to reflect different causes of death; some indicate fatalities due to explosions, despite the fact that they were martyred by drones and bombings.
Kamran Osman, a member of the CPT-Iraqi Kurdistan, told PUKMEDIA: "Citizens perished in their vehicles due to being targeted by Turkish drones, yet their death certificates state that they died in a traffic accident! The party responsible for the death and the actual cause of death are not mentioned.
According to the CPT, 59% of the 147 people were killed in Duhok, 24% in Erbil, 7.8% in Sulaymaniyah and 9.2% in Sinjar.
