The Fire Incident at the Second-Hand Market in Erbil.
The fabricated scenarios used by the Kurdistan Region Security Council to accuse political parties have once again been exposed, with some young individuals previously accused of being involved in the fires that broke out in the markets (Bazaars) of Erbil and Kirkuk.
The Baghdad/Rusafa Court of Appeal has ruled to release the detainees accused of setting fire to the markets in Kirkuk and Erbil, dropping all charges against them.
Bringing the Architects of the Scenarios to Justice
Saadi Ahmed Pire, Spokesperson for the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK), told PUKMEDIA: "Those that issue security-related decisions ahead of the court’s rulings and make direct accusations without evidence must be held accountable and punished."
He continued: "These parties, who claim to be defenders of the law, are the ones fabricating scenarios and distorting the facts for political gain. Those who have been slandered and falsely accused should pursue legal action against those who made the baseless allegations. The PUK, as one of the parties wrongly accused, has the right to take legal action against these parties through the legal system."
Kurdistan Region President: PUK Was Not Behind the Incidents
The President of the Kurdistan Region, Nechirvan Barzani, has confirmed that there is no evidence to suggest that the PUK was responsible for the fires in Erbil and Kirkuk. In a press statement, Barzani addressed the arrest of individuals involved in the fires, stating: "There is no proof linking the PUK to these incidents."
Court Decision
The Baghdad/Rusafa Court of Appeal has ordered the release of the detainees accused of setting the markets in Kirkuk and Erbil on fire and has dropped all charges against them.
The court’s ruling, a copy of which was obtained by PUKMEDIA, states: "Due to a lack of sufficient evidence against the accused – Hunar Fakhraddin, Mohammed Najat, and Sirwan Hussein – the court has decided to cancel the charges in accordance with Article 4/First and Article 2/1, 3, and 7 of the Anti-Terrorism Law No. 13 of 2005. The accused are to be released immediately, and all confiscated items, such as phones and vehicles, are to be returned to them."
Following the fire incidents in markets in Erbil and Kirkuk, security forces arrested several individuals, but some powerful parties exploited the situation to accuse others of involvement in the incidents.
