Iraq exported more than 600 million barrels of oil during the first half of 2025, according to new figures released by the State Oil Marketing Organisation (SOMO).
Total crude exports from January to June amounted to 606.58 million barrels, averaging approximately 101.09 million barrels per month.
SOMO reported that oil export revenues for March, April, May, and June reached $27.5 billion, despite a decline in output earlier in the year. The decrease was attributed to Iraq’s compliance with OPEC+ production cuts and additional voluntary reductions, which led to a drop of 110,000 barrels per day in average daily crude and derivative exports during the first quarter.
In contrast, Iraq’s average crude oil and petroleum derivative exports in 2024 rose to 3.64 million barrels per day, up from 3.55 million barrels per day in 2023.
Asian markets remained Iraq’s largest buyers in early 2025, accounting for over 70% of total exports. China led with an average of 1.34 million barrels per day, followed by India at 940,000 barrels per day and South Korea at 380,000 barrels per day.
