The shooting incident in Jerusalem.
Israeli media reported on Monday, 8 September 2025, that five people were killed and at least 11 others injured in a shooting at the Ramot settlement junction near Jerusalem. The assailants, reportedly two individuals, were killed by security forces at the scene. Emergency responders found victims on the road and pavement, with some seriously injured.
According to Israel Hayom, the attackers may have come from a village in the West Bank near Ramallah, although authorities have not officially confirmed their exact origin. Israeli police confirmed that the perpetrators were neutralised and weapons were recovered.
Meanwhile, US President Donald Trump issued a stark warning to Hamas on his Truth Social account. He wrote: “Everyone wants the hostages to return home. Everyone wants this war to end. The Israelis have accepted my terms. It is time for Hamas to do the same. I warned Hamas of the consequences of refusal. This is my final warning—there will be no more. Thank you for your attention to this matter.”
Informed sources told Axios that a new proposal for a ceasefire and the release of hostages had been presented to Hamas last week, in an effort to prevent a large-scale military operation in Gaza City.
