The Kurdistan Regional Government’s (KRG) Council of Ministers held its regular meeting today, Wednesday. According to the Department of Media and Information, the KRG reiterated its request for the payment of public sector salaries and urged swift action to resolve the issue of non-oil revenues through a joint agreement with the federal government in Baghdad.
In a statement received by PUKMEDIA, the Department of Media and Information reported that Dr Amanj Rahim, Secretary to the Council of Ministers, stressed during the meeting that implementing the existing agreement with Baghdad would guarantee the stability of salary payments and other financial entitlements for the Region. He underlined that KRG employees must no longer face delays in receiving their wages and should be treated in the same manner as other Iraqi civil servants.
The statement went on to say that the Council of Ministers is awaiting the disbursement of salaries for August and the months ahead, and further urged the Ministry of Finance and Economy in the Kurdistan Region to accelerate the transfer of 120 billion dinars to the account of Iraq’s federal Ministry of Finance.
The Council also renewed its call for faster progress in resolving the non-oil revenue issue under a bilateral agreement with Baghdad, confirming its “full readiness to cooperate with the six-member federal ministerial committee” assigned to oversee the matter.
