Kobani Asayish Delegation Holds Security Talks with Aleppo Authorities.
A delegation from the Internal Security Forces (Asayish) in Kobani, Rojava (North and East Syria), held a meeting with the Aleppo security command to discuss the implementation of the agreement signed on 29 January and ways to strengthen security coordination between the two sides.
During the meeting, the two parties examined mechanisms for lifting the siege imposed on Kobani, as well as frameworks for cooperation between security forces in Kobani and the surrounding rural areas to improve the overall security situation and facilitate the movement of residents.
The Asayish delegation was headed by the Co-Chair of Internal Security in Kobani, Arin Kobani, and included several members of the security forces.
The delegation was received by Colonel Muhammad Abdul Ghani and members of the Internal Security Forces in Aleppo Governorate at the Internal Security headquarters in the city.
The city of Kobani in Rojava (North and East Syria) has entered its twentieth day under a suffocating siege imposed by the Syrian interim government, as approximately 600,000 civilians and displaced persons face rapidly deteriorating humanitarian conditions. Residents are suffering from severe shortages of medicine and basic necessities, alongside a complete blackout of electricity and internet services, despite signed agreements stipulating that the siege should be lifted.
Fighting broke out between the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) and Syrian government forces in the Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafieh Kurdish neighbourhoods of Aleppo in early January before a ceasefire agreement was reached on 29 January 2026.
Following intense clashes, Syrian government forces gained control of the area after fighting that reportedly killed dozens of civilians and displaced more than 150,000 people.
