Qubad Talabani, President of Sulaymaniyah Sports Club, met on Monday, 9 February 2026, with the club’s newly elected administrative board. He announced that the board has prepared a comprehensive plan aimed at restoring Sulaymaniyah Sports Club to a leading position in sporting competitions.
In a post on his Facebook page, Talabani described Sulaymaniyah Sports Club as a source of pride for the city of Sulaymaniyah and for sport across the Kurdistan Region, highlighting its more than 70-year history and its deep connection to the memories of successive generations of local residents.
He said he had accepted the presidency with great pride, stressing that the main objective is to open a new chapter marked by success and achievement through close cooperation between the club’s management, supporters and fans.
Talabani explained that the club’s leadership has adopted an integrated, gradual development plan designed to return Sulaymaniyah Sports Club to the forefront of competitions and to bring joy to its supporters through winning titles. He added that the aim is for the club to reclaim its prominent standing and respected status at both local and international levels, in keeping with its long history and significance in the city.
