Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian.
Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian said on Saturday that the country’s interim leadership council has agreed not to launch attacks on neighbouring states unless their territories are used as a base for strikes against Iran.
Pezeshkian said on state TV: “The interim leadership council has agreed not to launch attacks on neighbouring countries unless an attack is launched from their territory against Iran,” adding that Iran has “no animosity towards the countries of the region”.
The Iranian president called on neighbouring countries to confront what he described as terrorist groups attempting to threaten Iran’s security from their territories.
He also warned that “the enemy must know that its dreams of our surrender will not be realised”.
The Iranian President added that Iran would “stand firm until our last breath to bring our country out of this crisis”, while expressing his gratitude to the Iranian people.
His remarks came as the U.S. President Donald Trump said on Friday there would be no deal struck with Iran except "unconditional surrender," a week after launching war with Israel against Tehran,.
“There will be no deal with Iran except UNCONDITIONAL SURRENDER!” the U.S. President said on Truth social.
“After that, and the selection of a GREAT & ACCEPTABLE Leader(s), we, and many of our wonderful and very brave allies and partners, will work tirelessly to bring Iran back from the brink of destruction, making it economically bigger, better, and stronger than ever before. IRAN WILL HAVE A GREAT FUTURE. “MAKE IRAN GREAT AGAIN (MIGA!),” he added.
