The Political Bureau of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) has issued a statement mourning the death of the respected politician of Western Kurdistan, Salih Muslim. The statement highlighted that he was a leading figure in the fight for the rights of the Kurdish people.
The Politburo’s statement reads:
With profound sorrow, we extend our heartfelt condolences on the passing of Salih Muslim, struggler and politician in Western Kurdistan, and member of the Presidential Council of the Democratic Union Party (PYD). We offer our sincere sympathies to his family, his fellow fighters and patriots, and to all his colleagues, friends, and supporters within the Democratic Union Party.
From the outset of the Syrian revolution and in Western Kurdistan, Mr Salih Muslim, through the PYD and in cooperation with other fighters, was a key figure in the struggle to secure Kurdish rights and to establish self-administration for our people in the region.
Mr Muslim was also the father of the martyr Shervan, who gave his life for the freedom of the homeland.
His passing is a profound loss to our people, to the struggle in Western Kurdistan, and to the pursuit of a new, democratic Syria.
