The Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) has strongly condemned the attack on the UAE Consulate General in Erbil and all attacks targeting the territory and institutions of the Kurdistan Region, as well as diplomatic missions and envoys.
The KRG said in a statement on Saturday, 14 March 2026: "The Kurdistan Regional Government strongly condemns the attack on the Consulate General of the United Arab Emirates in Erbil, as well as any attack targeting the territory and institutions of the Kurdistan Region, and consulates and diplomatic missions."
It added: "These terrorist attacks against the Kurdistan Region are destabilising, constitute a blatant violation of international law and the sovereignty of the Kurdistan Region and Iraq, and have no justification."
The KRG also said: "The federal government must assume its legal responsibility and set clear limits on the outlaw forces, groups, and militias that have become a real threat to the people of the Kurdistan Region and Iraq as a whole. As a result of their unlawful assaults and attacks, dozens have become victims, and significant damage has been inflicted on the Kurdistan Region and Iraq."
