Düzen Tekkal, a Kurdish-Yazidi journalist and human rights activist, has been awarded Germany's International Blue Tongue Prize in recognition of her humanitarian work and outstanding contributions to society.
The International Blue Tongue Prize is presented annually in Germany to courageous individuals who have made a significant and positive impact on society. Tekkal received this year's award in recognition of her longstanding commitment to defending human rights, advocating for the Yazidi community, and combating hatred and extremism in Germany and internationally.
