Kurdistan Region VP Commends Germany's Continued Support for Iraq and the Kurdistan Region

The Vice President of the Kurdistan Region's meeting with the German delegation.

Vice President of the Kurdistan Region Sheikh Jaafar Sheikh Mustafa received Matthias Wieler, Deputy Consul General of Germany in the Kurdistan Region, and Colonel Torsten Piecha, Commander of the German contingent within the Global Coalition Against ISIS.

During the meeting, both sides underscored the importance of further strengthening relations between Germany and the Kurdistan Region on the basis of shared interests. They also discussed the continuing threat posed by the ISIS terrorist organisation and stressed the importance of maintaining Germany's military support for the Peshmerga forces as part of the Global  Coalition.

The Vice President expressed the Kurdistan Region's appreciation for Germany's continued support for Iraq and the Kurdistan Region, praising the contribution of the German forces within the Global Coalition in the fight against ISIS.

The meeting also reviewed ongoing efforts to reform and unify the Peshmerga forces under the Ministry of Peshmerga Affairs, as well as the latest developments in the Middle East and their implications for regional security.
