Kurdistan Region Asayish arrests 2 suspected ISIS terrorists in cooperation with ICTS.
The Kurdistan Region Security (Asayish) Agency has announced the arrest of two suspected ISIS terrorists in coordinated operations carried out in Sulaymaniyah and the Raparin Administration.
According to a statement issued by the General Directorate of Asayish Operations, the arrests were conducted in cooperation with the Iraqi Counter-Terrorism Service (ICTS) following an extensive intelligence-gathering effort and detailed investigations.
The agency said the two suspects, who were wanted on terrorism-related charges, were apprehended on 14 June 2026 during two separate security operations within the boundaries of Sulaymaniyah and the Raparin Administration.
As part of the operations, security forces also rescued the wife and child of one of the suspects, who, according to the statement, had previously been held captive by the militant.
The two detainees are being held under Article 2 of the Kurdistan Region's Anti-Terrorism Law, while investigations remain ongoing.
The Asayish reaffirmed its commitment to working alongside Iraqi security forces to combat terrorism and maintain stability across the Kurdistan Region, adding that efforts to pursue and apprehend individuals linked to ISIS will continue.
