The Iraqi passport has been ranked as the world's third weakest passport in the 2026 Henley Passport Index, highlighting the continued restrictions on the international mobility of Iraqi citizens.

According to the latest index, Iraqi passport holders can travel to just 28 destinations without obtaining a visa in advance or by securing a visa on arrival.

The Afghan passport remains the world's weakest, providing visa-free or visa-on-arrival access to 22 destinations, while the Syrian passport ranks second, allowing entry to 25 countries under the same conditions.

The Henley Passport Index is compiled using official data from the International Air Transport Association (IATA) and is widely recognised as a global benchmark for measuring passport strength. It ranks passports according to the number of destinations their holders can access without requiring a visa before departure.

The annual index reflects the level of global travel freedom enjoyed by citizens of each country and compares the relative strength of passports worldwide.
