Iraqi President Reviews Preparations for Ninth Anniversary of President Mam Jalal’s Passing

Iraqi President Nizar Amedi's meeting with PJTF and the Secretariat Bureau of President Mam Jalal.

Iraqi President Nizar Amedi met with a delegation from the President Jalal Talabani Foundation (PJTF) and the Secretariat Bureau of President Mam Jalal on Monday to discuss preparations for the ninth anniversary of the passing of President Jalal Talabani.

The meeting focused on ongoing preparations for the commemoration, which is scheduled to take place in Baghdad.

President Amedi stressed the importance of commemorating the national and political legacy of the late President Mam Talabani, describing him as a statesman and unifying national figure who, through his political wisdom, played a significant role in promoting dialogue, understanding and partnership.

He said President Mam Jalal’s passing had left a profound mark on the history of the Iraqi state and in the hearts of the Iraqi people.

President Mam Jalal (Jalal Talabani) passed away on 3 October 2017. His passing anniversary is commemorated annually on 3 October, with official and public memorial events held across Iraq and the Kurdistan Region.
