Germany Deports Over 30 Iraqi Migrants to Baghdad

Germany has deported more than 30 Iraqi and Kurdistan Region migrants to Baghdad in its first mass deportation flight since tensions between the United States and Iran escalated.

Peshraw Abdullah, a representative of the returned migrants, said more than 30 people had been forcibly deported from Hamburg, including several from the Kurdistan Region. He added that the deportation of Iraqi migrants from Germany is expected to continue.

EU countries have tightened asylum procedures since 2016, as authorities have increased scrutiny of applications and rejected many claims due to insufficient supporting evidence.
