PUK Delegation Visits Olof Palme International Center, Reaffirms Partnership.
A delegation from the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) has visited the Olof Palme International Center in Stockholm, where it held talks with Swedish Social Democratic representatives and paid tribute to the late Swedish leader Olof Palme.
The delegation, headed by Salar Mahmud, Head of the Foreign Relations Central Board, was received by Oscar Ernerot, Secretary-General of the Olof Palme International Center; Helene Shahin, Head of Projects; and Shahin Khosravi, Youth Representative for the Social Democrats and Head of the Asia and Middle East Department.
During the meeting, both sides reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening and continuing bilateral cooperation.
Salar Mahmud expressed his appreciation to the Palme Center for its continued support and coordination with the PUK, highlighting the importance of the longstanding relationship between the two sides.
Ernerot, meanwhile, praised the PUK’s role in advancing Social Democratic principles, particularly in promoting peace-building and peaceful coexistence.
Following the meeting, the PUK delegation visited the grave of Olof Palme, former Swedish Prime Minister and leader of the Social Democratic Party, where they laid a ceremonial wreath in his memory.
Mahmud said the historic relationship between President Mam Jalal and Olof Palme remains an important foundation for continued cooperation between the Swedish Social Democrats and the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan.
“We view the historic relationship between our late leaders, President Mam Jalal and Olof Palme, as a vital foundation for the ongoing partnership between the Social Democrats and the PUK,” Mahmud said.
