MERI Forum 2026 Opens in Erbil to Discuss Regional Stability and Cooperation

The MERI Forum 2026 opened in Erbil on Monday, 12 October 2026, bringing together regional leaders and senior officials for two days of discussions on key political, security and economic issues.

Held under the theme “In Our Shared Region: Promoting Stability, Cooperation and Prosperity”, the forum will focus on pressing challenges facing the Kurdistan Region and the wider Middle East, as well as opportunities to strengthen regional cooperation.

Bafel Jalal Talabani, President of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK), is scheduled to address the forum later today. His speech will focus on building a stronger Kurdistan, promoting unity and security, and strengthening regional partnerships.

On the second day of the forum, Tuesday, 13 October, Qubad Talabani, Deputy Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Region, is scheduled to deliver an address.
