Iraq’s Parliament is scheduled to hold its 26th session on Thursday, 15 October 2026, to vote on completing the federal government’s cabinet.

A parliamentary source told PUKMEDIA that lawmakers would vote on candidates for the posts of Deputy Prime Minister, as well as nominees for vacant ministerial portfolios and newly established ministries.

Prime Minister Ali al-Zaidi proposed holding the session on Thursday to consider the nominations, according to an official document issued by his office and addressed to the Speaker of Parliament.

The document cited Article 76, Clause Four, of Iraq’s 2005 Constitution as the basis for the proposal, which aims to finalise the government’s cabinet line-up.
It also stated that the Deputy Prime Ministers would serve without salaries or financial allocations, and that no new staff would be appointed to their offices.
