President Bafel Reaffirms PUK Support for Peace Process in Türkiye

PUK President welcomes a delegation from DEM Party.

Bafel Jalal Talabani, President of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK), received Tuncer Bakırhan, Co-Chair of the DEM Party, in Dabashan.

The meeting was attended by Shanaz Ibrahim Ahmed and Dr Yousif Goran, members of the PUK Political Bureau, and Salar Lala Sarhad, Head of the Kurdistani Relations Board. Discussions focused on continuing joint coordination and cooperation and strengthening bilateral relations in pursuit of shared interests and greater regional stability.

The two sides also exchanged views on the peace process in Türkiye. President Bafel reaffirmed the PUK’s support for this historic initiative, stating: “We will continue to follow the same policy pursued by President Mam Jalal until this vital and decisive process succeeds. We believe that peace and coexistence enable us to serve our people, whereas war and division bring nothing but destruction. I therefore hope that everyone will turn a new page and work towards lasting peace.”

For his part, Bakırhan thanked President Bafel and the PUK for their efforts to advance the peace process, saying: “We highly value your role and appreciate your steps in support of stability and peaceful coexistence in the region.”
