Iraq Receives 44,000 Tonnes of US Rice for National Ration Programme

Around 44,000 tonnes of American rice has arrived in Iraq.

Lama Hashim al-Musawi, Director General of the Iraq's General Company for Foodstuff Trading, has announced the arrival of the "Equinox Star" at the Port of Aqaba, carrying approximately 44,000 tonnes of US rice for Iraq’s national food ration programme.

In a statement, al-Musawi said the shipment was part of the company’s ongoing efforts to secure food supplies and strengthen reserves, ensuring the uninterrupted distribution of ration items to citizens in line with established plans.

She added that the company’s quality control teams had begun collecting samples and conducting the necessary laboratory tests to ensure the rice met approved quality standards and was safe for consumption.
