US President Donald Trump said on Monday he was open to holding a trilateral meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping and Russian President Vladimir Putin, potentially focusing on denuclearisation.

"We would have it to talk about nuclear weapons and denuclearization," Trump told reporters outside the White House.

"If President ‌Xi wants to have it, I'd have it."

Earlier on Monday, the Kremlin said a meeting between Trump, Xi and Putin could take place on the sidelines of next month’s Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit in China.

The Kremlin added that the possibility of a trilateral meeting had been raised during discussions.
