Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Ishaq Dar, has reaffirmed Islamabad’s continued efforts to mediate between the United States and Iran, stressing that dialogue and diplomacy remain the most effective means of containing regional tensions and achieving lasting peace.

Speaking at a meeting of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation’s Council of Heads of Government in Dushanbe, Tajikistan, Dar said Pakistan was continuing to facilitate communication between the two sides and support efforts to de-escalate tensions in the Gulf and West Asia.

He also reiterated Pakistan’s support for resolving conflicts through peaceful means, emphasising the importance of diplomatic engagement in addressing regional disputes.

His remarks come amid reports of a visit to Tehran by Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff, General Asim Munir, as part of wider regional and international efforts to revive negotiations between Washington and Tehran and reduce the risk of military escalation.

Pakistan’s diplomatic initiatives come as efforts to ease tensions between the United States and Iran intensify, amid concerns about the potential consequences of further escalation for regional security and stability.

Through continued engagement with the parties involved, Islamabad hopes to encourage dialogue, narrow differences and create conditions for a political settlement that could help prevent further crises across the region.
