PUK President Bafel Jalal Talabani.
Bafel Jalal Talabani, President of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK), expressed gratitude to the security forces in the Kurdistan Region for their support in facilitating success in the electoral process.
The special voting for the Kurdistan parliamentary elections took place on Friday, where security forces participated a cast their votes. The general elections for the sixth term of the Kurdistan Parliament are set to take place on October 20, 2024.
PUK President's message to the security forces said:
I wish to convey my profound appreciation to the Peshmerga forces, the Kurdistan Parastin & Zanyari / Zanyari Agency, the Kurdistan Region Security Agency (Asayish), the internal forces and police across all directorates, the Counter-Terrorism Group, and the Kurdistan commandos and Operations for your vigorous involvement in the successful execution of the voting process and the promotion of more effective governance.
As you have consistently served as the custodians of peace and stability, today, dear brothers and sisters, you were taking the lead to advance the democratic process during this critical phase in our region, and we are proud of your efforts.
Esteemed comrades, you bear a significant duty and obligation in the forthcoming days to uphold the peace of the processes. I ask that you execute this significant duty with the same enthusiasm and dedication that you showed today, and I am confident you will fulfil our expectations.
I assure you of my unwavering loyalty as your brother and friend. My earnest plea is for you to express your successes in a civilised manner and continue to serve as a model for our Kurdistan.
Together towards a brighter future, towards a more stable region...
