Qubad Talabani, Head of the Mam Jalal Secretariat Bureau, met with members of the Green Bloc (the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan’s parliamentary bloc) in the Kurdistan Parliament on Tuesday, 30 June 2026, at the Dukan summer resort. The meeting was attended by Shalaw Kosrat Rasul.
During the meeting, Qubad Talabani updated Green Bloc MPs on the latest political developments in the Kurdistan Region and Iraq, outlining the PUK’s vision and political approach. He said that the PUK currently enjoys a strong and influential position in Baghdad and on the international stage, adding that its views and policies carry greater weight than ever before, particularly within Iraq.
Addressing the political situation in the Kurdistan Region and efforts to form the next Kurdistan Regional Government, Qubad Talabani said that the PUK’s position and vision are well understood by friendly countries and international partners. He stressed that the PUK is not standing in the way of forming the new cabinet but is instead committed to accelerating the process. He added that, since its establishment, the PUK has remained institutionally committed to forming a government based on genuine partnership, in line with its longstanding pledge of national participation to the people of Kurdistan.
Lastly, Talabani urged PUK parliamentarians to honour the oath they took upon assuming office and to continue serving the people of Kurdistan by addressing their concerns and following up on public issues on a daily basis, despite the current suspension of parliament.
