The Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) bloc in the Iraqi parliament has stated that targeting civilian homes and killing members of a family constitutes a grave crime that amounts to a war crime and cannot be justified.

In a statement received by PUKMEDIA, the bloc strongly condemned the drone strike on the village of Zarga Zawi in Erbil Governorate, which resulted in the deaths of two civilians inside their home.

The statement added that the continued drone attacks on cities across the Kurdistan Region represent a serious violation, stressing that the targeting of civilian homes and the killing of family members is an inexcusable act that falls under the category of war crimes.

The bloc further called on the federal government to fulfil its legal and constitutional responsibilities in safeguarding the security of the Kurdistan Region and to take measures to prevent the recurrence of such unlawful attacks against civilians.

The statement concluded by extending condolences to the families of the two victims and expressing hope for stability in the country.
