Bafel Jalal Talabani, President of the PUK.
On the anniversary of the founding of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK), President Bafel Jalal Talabani reaffirmed the party’s commitment to standing alongside the people during ongoing economic and regional challenges, while pledging to continue defending the rights of Kurds and strengthening stability, sovereignty, and partnership across Iraq.
The following is PUK President’s message:
On this anniversary of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan, we choose to stand in solidarity with our people during these challenging economic and regional times.
I want to deeply thank our people for their patience and resilience, we assure you that we will continue to do our absolute best to serve and protect you. Moving forward, the unity of Iraq and the prosperity of the Kurdistan Region will remain essential for the collective success of our country. We will fight for this, alongside our allies and friends in Iraq and around the world.
We also strongly condemn the recent attacks targeting the Kurdistan Region. Such actions threaten the security and stability of our people and undermine efforts to build a peaceful and prosperous future for all Iraqis.
As we commemorate this occasion, we also honor the enduring legacy of President Jalal Talabani, whose vision of coexistence, dialogue, democracy, and national partnership continues to guide our path.
To achieve lasting stability, we must work diligently to repair and build balanced relationships with neighboring countries, while firmly ensuring that Iraq remains entirely independent and sovereign.
Ultimately, the PUK reaffirms its unbreakable promise to fight for the rights of Kurds everywhere, alongside our brothers and sisters—the noble people of Iraq.
God bless everyone.
Bafel Jalal Talabani
President of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan
