Bafel Jalal Talabani, President of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK), has paid a heartfelt tribute to his brother, Deputy Prime Minister Qubad Talabani, describing him as his “best friend”, “greatest ally” and an unwavering source of strength in a birthday message shared on social media.

The following is PUK President’s message:

Happy Birthday to my dear brother and best friend!

Through every season of life, you have been my rock, my sounding board, and my greatest ally. Having you by my side isn't just a blessing, it’s the anchor that keeps me grounded no matter what comes our way. They say true friends are the family you choose, but in our case, I got lucky enough to have both in one person. We have always made an unbeatable team, and I couldn't be prouder of the man, leader, and brother you are.

As you step into another year, I have no doubt that your future holds even greater success, strength, and happiness.
