Iraqi President Nizar Amedi attended the 40th regular meeting of the State Administration Coalition, hosted by Prime Minister Ali al-Zaidi at the Government Palace. The meeting was also attended by Parliament Speaker Haybat al-Halbousi, Supreme Judicial Council President Faiq Zidan, and leaders of the coalition representing Iraq’s national political forces.

According to a statement by the Iraqi Presidency, the discussions focused on domestic and regional security and military developments, with participants stressing the need for heightened attention to these issues amid ongoing regional and international instability. They also called for maintaining the policies and prudent approach needed to preserve Iraq’s security and sovereignty.

On domestic affairs, the statement noted that the coalition reaffirmed that the rights to peaceful protest and freedom of expression are constitutionally guaranteed. It called for protecting demonstrators and listening to their legitimate demands, while emphasising the need to respect the Constitution and the law, protect public safety and property, and refrain from blocking roads.

The meeting also addressed the draft federal budget law, emphasising the importance of passing it within the constitutionally prescribed deadlines and ensuring a fair distribution of resources. Participants called for priority to be given to projects and programmes that most directly meet citizens’ service and livelihood needs and help ensure a dignified life.

Economic diversification was also on the agenda, with the coalition commending the efforts of relevant institutions to broaden national income sources and expand oil export routes. These measures, it said, are important to strengthening economic stability and safeguarding Iraq’s national security.
